The other factor is the locations. The Viking line ports in both towns are closer to the hotels we are staying at, but would be willing to go to the Silja line if it is better. The Silja Serenade/Symphony has the 'promenade deck' which is in my opinion the only major difference in the boats. The better cabins in Viking are better than in Silja.
