New technology may, however, increase the likelihood of achieving the Habermasian scenario of diverse citizens' groups engaging in practical discourses of their own. Habermas's theory of communicative action represents a critical synthesis of the leading sociological theories, primarily of those of Parsons, Weber and Marx.
